Big Bluestem
Andropogon gerardi
This grass actively grows during the summer when soil temperatures are warm. A majestic landscape accent grows up to seven feet tall, and is great for erosion control. Big Bluestem has beautiful fall colours of gold, burgundy, and pink.
It is the host-plant to many butterflies, and provides habitat for many other insects, small mammals, and birds.
